My speech

 My speech topic is Native trees. I picked this topic because it is important for NZ to look after. When I presented my speech I felt good. What I did well was my volume was good. What I could have done better was my eye contact.

Why is it important to look after the Native Trees? 

Native trees are trees that only grow in New Zealand. They are special to New Zealand such as the Kauri tree. Now please listen to my three reasons about why we should look after our native trees.

My first reason is that native trees help us breathe. If all the trees in the world died then everyone in the world would die because we would have no oxygen and we would not be able to breathe. Trees produce oxygen. The trees absorb carbon dioxide then the trees create oxygen with sunlight and water. That oxygen from the tree goes into the air and helps animals and people breathe

My next reason is that trees are where animals live, like birds creating nests. The reason why birds live in trees is because there are bugs, nuts and berries that birds can eat and they rub their bodies against the leaves so they can clean themselves and trees create small drops of water for birds to drink.

Finally, trees make our world beautiful and help keep us shaded from the hot sun.  When you go in a forest the trees are so beautiful. People come to NZ to see the forests and hear the brids sing and see different Native trees. If the forests were not there then it would look bad and people would not be able to look at all the different Native trees.

That is why we should look after the Native trees, the trees will be healthy and will not die. I hope you enjoyed my speech about why it is important to look after New Zealand’s special Native trees.
