We are learning how to conduct proper science experiments and then record what we did and what we noticed. We could investigate any area of science we wanted I chose to make home made crystals using salt and sugar, to see which one would form quicker. Here is my work….

  In Week 8,  Miss Fletcher gave us a science lesson about Matariki. We had to write some notes about it.  Here is my work:

In science we created a DNA monster by rolling the dice to see if we got dominant or recessive genes to draw our monster. This is what I got:

Yesterday with Miss Fletcher we made crystals using hot water and sugar/salt. We had to dissolve the sugar/salt in the water until it was saturated - would not dissolve anymore. We added food colouring then put our shaped pipe cleaner or string into the solution. We have to be patient until crystals form. Crystals are shiny and smooth and very hard . They are clear  and can be any color. Crystals  can be any shape. Some crystals are pointy but some are not.  Crystal making maths 2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5= 20 cups of sugar 8x2.5=20 cups of sugar We can make 8 crystals using 2.5 cups of sugar for each crystal.
