I am peace Week one Term 4

This week for play make create we read the book I am peace. There were two tasks we had to do a writing task and a create task for my create task i did a wonder tree. Here is my work.

My Activities Week 6 Term 3 2021

  This week we carried on with our ‘insect’ topic for reading I made honey biscuits, writing we did similes about insects, and for maths we practised basic facts and worked on writing a variety of equations which would have a certain number for the answer. We also practised solving problems using place value or known facts knowledge. Here is a selection of my work:

My Metamorphosis

  Yet another thing we did for writing this week was to imagine that we had undergone metamorphosis.  We had to pretend we had woken up one morning and discovered we had changed. It would be like going to sleep as a caterpillar and waking up as a butterfly. We had to write about what our new body was like and what we could do. I chose to : Turn into a rabbit. Here is my work.

Weather

 Today We wrote a piece of writing about the weather. We got to choose what ever type we wanted. I chose to write about weather. Here is my work. 

Personification

  In Week 7, we looked at an example of a piece of writing that was inspired by a picture. The writing had lots of personification in it. Then we had to look at 6 different pictures and choose one that we thought might inspire some personification ideas.   I chose to use this picture. Here is my writing.

The Old playground

  In Week 7,  we went outside and looked at the old wooden playground  to see if we could think how to write about it using personification. We tried to think about the old playground as if it were an old person. We wondered what the old playground might look like or do that was like an old person. Here is my work:

Flax stars

  In Week 5, we learned how to write a Simile poem. This kind of poem needs a simile in almost every line. We could base it on any topic we wanted.   I chose to base mine on myself Here is my work.

Project Island song

We went on a trip to Urapukapuka Island with the conservation people who run Project Island Song . I made a poster about facts about rats. Here is my work.  

Chocolate

  This writing task was about a language experience. Our teachers brought different kinds of chocolate to school and we got to eat it! We tried white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel chocolate and pink chocolate. We could write about it in any way we liked but our teachers hoped we would use lots of describing language and our senses.                         Chocolate  It feels like a smooth rock on a beach. I couldn't believe how good it was. The creamy chocolate melted in my mouth. It was so delicious. The chocolate smelt like fresh creamy milk.    It looks like frozen cold milk. My favourite is definitely the creamy white chocolate. But they are both so delicious. Oh my goodness that was so yum. I would love to have the chocolates again.                ...

  The goal of this writing activity was to retell what our cicada hunt around the school was like. We had to remember to use sequencing adverbs at the beginning of our paragraphs.

Writing Wk 3 Term 1 2021

  Kia ora. We are learning that Basic Punctuation means that you have a capital letter at the start of a sentence, and a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark at the end of every sentence when you do a piece of writing. I decided to write an acrostic poem about a butterfly.

Creating Game

 This week to end our procedure writing topic,we have been creating our own games. I made a digital game. my theme was pond theme with ducks. Goal: try win Materials: you need a dice you need 2 players  Steps 1. Shake the dice whatever number you get you have to move number of spaces. 2. You can only touch the green box's. 3. touch brown go back to the start. 4. touch a red box go 1 space back. 5. try to be the first to get to the end.

Procedure Writing

We have been learning to write a procedure. I know a procedure has to have steps, a title, a goal and materials. My steps have to be in order and clear for someone else to follow.

My speech

 My speech topic is Native trees. I picked this topic because it is important for NZ to look after. When I presented my speech I felt good. What I did well was my volume was good. What I could have done better was my eye contact. My Speech: Why is it important to look after the Native Trees?  Native trees are trees that only grow in New Zealand. They are special to New Zealand such as the Kauri tree. Now please listen to my three reasons about why we should look after our native trees. My first reason is that native trees help us breathe. If all the trees in the world died then everyone in the world would die because we would have no oxygen and we would not be able to breathe. Trees produce oxygen. The trees absorb carbon dioxide then the trees create oxygen with sunlight and water. That oxygen from the tree goes into the air and helps animals and people breathe My next reason is that trees are where animals live, like birds creating nests.
