Crystals

Yesterday with Miss Fletcher we made crystals using hot water and sugar/salt.
We had to dissolve the sugar/salt in the water until it was saturated - would not dissolve anymore.
We added food colouring then put our shaped pipe cleaner or string into the solution.
We have to be patient until crystals form.
Crystals are shiny and smooth and very hard .
They are clear  and can be any color. Crystals  can be any shape.
Some crystals are pointy but some are not.

2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5= 20 cups of sugar
8x2.5=20 cups of sugar
We can make 8 crystals using 2.5 cups of sugar for each crystal.

 My speech topic is Native trees. I picked this topic because it is important for NZ to look after. When I presented my speech I felt good. What I did well was my volume was good. Maths Week 5 Term 3 2021 Solving word problems

  Another thing we have been  learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different   combinations as we could.  Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table.
