We have been learning about cultures of the world. I chose Australia to find out its culture.  

 We have been learning narrative writing. Here is my story we rewrote.

Here is my handwriting sample for Term 4. I am good at keeping my letters on the line. I need to work on my letter sizing.

 We have been learning our Maori names for fruit and other kai. A game called kahoot has been helping us learn the Maori kai names.  

 Here is my handwriting sample for term 3. I am good at A because it is the first letter of my name. I need to work on my g because I can not do a g good.

 This week to end our procedure writing topic,we have been creating our own games. I made a digital game. my theme was pond theme with ducks. Goal: try win Materials: you need a dice you need 2 players  Steps 1. Shake the dice whatever number you get you have to move number of spaces. 2. You can only touch the green box's. 3. touch brown go back to the start. 4. touch a red box go 1 space back. 5. try to be the first to get to the end.

 For maths we have been working on our basic facts. Everyday we do a maths grid of basic facts.

 

We have been learning to write a procedure. I know a procedure has to have steps, a title, a goal and materials. My steps have to be in order and clear for someone else to follow.

 

 We have been learning to solve addition and subtraction problems using place value. We had to complete these problems using this strategy. I feel good and happy that I can use this strategy.

 We read the big book How kiwi saved the forest. Here is my Kiwi before and after he lost his wings.  

 

 My speech topic is Native trees. I picked this topic because it is important for NZ to look after. When I presented my speech I felt good. What I did well was my volume was good. What I could have done better was my eye contact. My Speech: Why is it important to look after the Native Trees?  Native trees are trees that only grow in New Zealand. They are special to New Zealand such as the Kauri tree. Now please listen to my three reasons about why we should look after our native trees. My first reason is that native trees help us breathe. If all the trees in the world died then everyone in the world would die because we would have no oxygen and we would not be able to breathe. Trees produce oxygen. The trees absorb carbon dioxide then the trees create oxygen with sunlight and water. That oxygen from the tree goes into the air and helps animals and people breathe My next reason is that trees are where animals live, like birds creating nests.  We listened to the story and gave our reasons for or against letting the pigeon drive the bus.  

For the last 2 weeks we have been learning about Matariki. I made a DLO to show what I have learnt about Matariki

For our learning about Matariki we had to write a diamante poem. We have to use nouns, adjectives and verbs to make our poem.

We have been learning to tell the time in class. I have made a DLO to show how to tell the time.

This week I made a hand for Matariki 

This week we have been doing lots of learning about Matariki. We read different legends about the Matariki stars. We had to use a Venn Diagram to compare two legends we chose.

Last week we made rockets from recycled materials.

For writing we had to write a shape poem. We had to use descriptive language.

For Art we made pom pom germs using wool. We gave our germs names and decided whether they were a good germ or a bad germ.

For maths we have been learning our times tables. We have created a times tables maze. You have to use your times tables to get the chicken to her eggs.

This week we played with bubbles. We blew bubbles outside. Mrs Clarke had some really big bubbles. We used juicy words to write a piece of writing. Here is my work.

This week we have refreshed our learning about how to wash our hands effectively.  we completed a procedure to show the steps. Here is my writing. I also designed my own germ.

In science we created a DNA monster by rolling the dice to see if we got dominant or recessive genes to draw our monster. This is what I got:

For maths we have been solving problems. We have to use facts we know to help us. Here is one of my problems I have solved.

On Wednesday we used the story Robot Stop as inspiration for our Play, Make Create tasks. Here is my tasks I completed for it. My maths. We had to draw a robot using a ruler and then measure all the parts of the body and add it up.

Yesterday with Miss Fletcher we made crystals using hot water and sugar/salt. We had to dissolve the sugar/salt in the water until it was saturated - would not dissolve anymore. We added food colouring then put our shaped pipe cleaner or string into the solution. We have to be patient until crystals form. Crystals are shiny and smooth and very hard . They are clear  and can be any color. Crystals  can be any shape. Some crystals are pointy but some are not.  Crystal making maths 2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5+2.5= 20 cups of sugar 8x2.5=20 cups of sugar We can make 8 crystals using 2.5 cups of sugar for each crystal. My crystal I made.

This week we began our online learning. For maths we have been solving problems. We have had to use facts we know to help us. Here is one of my problems I have solved.

My bedroom is amazing! I love my bedroom as it has a pink sparkly wall and my curtains are pink with stars and love hearts. I have a little pink wooden wardrobe that I put all my stuffed animals in. In my room I have a bunk bed that I love because when I have friends over they will have somewhere to sleep. I also like having bunk beds because I can choose if I want to sleep on the top or the bottom. I have my own bedroom and I also have a bunk bed for my two American girl dolls. I have a Barbie dollhouse that is very big, it has three levels with an elevator. It is a very pink and colorful dollhouse.  I am lucky to have my own bedroom.
